Today we had a super visit from Hellen Sinclair who came in to tell us all about her time in Tanzania. Tanzania is one of our Second Teams in the Commonwealth Games so it was great to learn more about it.
We found Tanzania on the map.
Learning some Swahili which was lots of fun!
Finding out about African animals.
Learning about the Massai People
Hellen asked us this question as this is the daily wage for many people working in Tanzania.
An example of a Tanzanian house.
There can be up to 100 children with only 1 teacher in a Government school and the children get no meals at the school and have to walk 2 or 3 miles to get there.
Learning about St Judes - the school Hellen worked in.
St Judes started with 1 teacher and these three children. It now has 1600 children!
The children get 3 meals a day and get a bus to and from school.
The children at St Jude's celebrated Happiness Day too as they feel very happy and lucky to have the opportunity to go to a school like this.
Thank you Hellen for such an interesting talk - we all really enjoyed it!
